My First Wedding Shoot

When most photographers here the word “wedding” well, they freeze up. Weddings equal anxiety to photographers because it’s one of the biggest celebrations ever. I know many of my photographer friends avoid weddings at all cost because they are scared of messing up this big day. Well, for me, I was eager to shoot weddings because I love a challenge, and I am an all-round photographer which means that I do it all, and I want to continue to succeed doing it all.

I shot my first wedding in August of last year. I remember being so excited, but also pretty nervous too. I agree with my photographer friends that this is a day that can’t be messed up hence the nerves, but I also know that I never leave a shoot until it is a success.

My uncle, who is a huge reason for my photography success, sent me a wedding checklist which I recommend photographers use so the day of, you know exactly what you need to take pics of. I also recommend having another shooter/helper with you. Luckily, my first wedding was for my older cousin, so my family was there to help carry my camera bag and everything (which helped out a lot). As for attire, look presentable, but dress comfortable (slacks, dark sneakers/keds, etc.). Most importantly, go for it! What does this mean, it means if you have to go up to the altar to get those perfect “exchanging vows” pics, then so be it. I was scared at first to do this very exact thing, but all the family approved and encouraged me to get up there and get those “million dollar shots.”

Now Time to Conclude with an Amazing and Helpful Site!

So, weddings are not that scary. As long as you prepare and have faith, you will achieve greatness. As photographers we always got to remind ourselves that our clients choose us for a reason, so make them proud! As for future brides and grooms, I have a great site that will cater to your needs.

Basic Invite

This site has it all from wedding invitations, thank you cards, wedding menus (they even have coasters!), guestbooks and so much more. In addition, they also have a huge variety of colors (over 180 colors) and over forty different colors of envelopes to choose from. Did I mention you can sample your design before fully committing to it. I don’t know about you, but I love seeing how my designs/photos look before hitting that buy now button! Plus, they have their highly rated Seal & Send Wedding Invitations. These Seal & Send Wedding Invitations are an all-in-one wedding invitation with a tear-off RSVP postcard included (how cool is that!). So all you have to do is share a link, collect guest addresses (guest's addresses are printed on the front of each invitation which means no envelope necessary!), and from there, upload them onto your design, instantly. Once you receive your order, all you have to do is add postage, fold your invites, and secure them with a sticker! The Seal & Sends come in over 30 designs featuring their popular foil options (and yes they have Rose Gold), and you can even customize them!

On top of that, they have FREE (yes I said free lol) wedding websites where you can add everything from the venue directions, to important details about your wedding. These sites are also mobile friendly and once again, customizable, and if I didn’t help you enough, there are live helpers on Basic Invite’s site ready to help you with your tasks.

*Sidenote: I am a fan of the clear invitations/business cards!
